Who Are We?

Want to  inject some energy into your OCR season? Come and hang out in a beautiful countryside manor with Ghost Squad’s very own Ed and Lara!

When they aren’t tearing up your local OCR, Ed and Lara work as personal fitness trainers from their own private gym near Becaonsfield. They both have a lifelong passion for racing and adventure, which they would love to share with you.

Their exclusive retreats let them spend a whole weekend getting to really know you, your interests and your goals both within OCR and with your fitness and lifestyle in general. They guarantee you’ll leave inspired, energised and full of new ideas for carrying on your exercise and nutrition when you get home.

Lara is our running expert, whether she’s demolishing a speedy 3km or enduring 15 hours of trail running to conquer the 100km Race To The Stones, her knowledge of running extends back to her days as a Nike sponsored athlete.

As well as running, her passions lie in anything to do with being in the outdoors and helping others to live the best version of a healthy adventurous life. She thrives on introducing others into fitness, and instilling self-confidence to help achieve long term goals and lifestyle transformations.

Lara’s favourite thing to do is to get up early and watch the sunrise on top of a hill. Hosting fitness retreats has been Lara’s focus for years, so she’s excited to welcome you to an unforgettable weekend.

Ed Gamester 

Strength and Conditioning: edgamester@outlook.com

Ed is best know as the harbinger of Ghost Squad, OCR’s Party Marshals and unofficial hell raisers, and as one of the speakers in Rise To The Sufferfests. He stumbled across OCR in 2012 in the form of Tough Guy and has been passionate about the sport ever since, traveling up and down the country (and around the world) to do races in his own unique way.

When he isn’t charging around your local obstacle course, he is a stunt fighter, powerlifter, professional wrestler and strongman (England’s Strongest Novice Under 80kg 2017). His highly functional and primal approach to fitness keeps him in peak physical condition all year round – and his favourite thing to do is teach other people how to achieve the same thing.

GET IN SHAPE FOR OCR

Every day includes personal fitness training, exercise classes and lifestyle workshops, specifically aimed at your goals within OCR and in fitness in general. We’ll sit with you to establish what you want to get out of the retreat and tailor your experience to suit you.

In your down time you can walk or cycle in the woods, explore the delightful local town of Cranbrook, chill out with a book, visit the Crane Valley Nature Reserve, or generally adventure around the awe-inspiring scenery of the High Weald:

  • Mysterious ancient woodlands and fern-clad streams
  • Sunken lanes created by Saxon drovers and Tudor ironmasters
  • Intriguing timber-framed buildings
  • Rare species in wildlife-rich field boundaries
  • The legendary Ashdown Forest
NUTRITION WORKSHOPS

FEAST AND REVEL!

It wouldn’t be an OCR retreat with Ghost Squad without hearty feasts and revelling! Both Ed and Lara eat A LOT and they’re keen to show you how they get away with it, and stay in tip top racing shape.

All your food is included: dinner on Friday, three meals on Saturday and Sunday, and a special parting breakfast on Monday morning.

You will also get unlimited refreshments – including water, herbal teas and coffee – and regular snacks to keep your energy up for the fun!

Oh and yes, there will be rum!

WEEKEND SCHEDULE

Our weekend will be tailored around everybody’s specific interests and goals, but this is an example of how it will all come together.

You will book your personal training sessions upon arrival; whilst others are having their training, you are free to enjoy all the other activities on offer, including tennis, cycling and kayaking on the lake.

There are also a wide range of watersports on offer, which require supplementary payments.
